My question involves adoption law for the State of: Maryland

I have questions on adoption do you have to be offically married to adopt?

My boyfriend would love to adopt my daughter if the ncp will sign his rights over (not sure if he will yet) we are planning on living together in May although he comes over every night so you might as well say he lives with me

will that surfice or must we be married? how much does it usually cost and what is involved does the fact that he has been there everyday since two month before she was born matter and she views him as her daddy

Your boyfriend may not adopt the child until you're married, and the biological father must consent.
