My question involves child support in the State of: North Carolina
My girlfriend's son is 2 years old. The father is a deadbeat who wont work. He got a doctor to say that he is "BI-POLAR" and so the state says he only has to pay $50.00 a month child support. Now. We all know that he is only bi-polar when it benefits him. It doesnt seem to impair any of his con-ing abilities. And it doesnt affect his going out to bars and drinking and having gay relations. Is this legal ? Can somebody actually get out of paying child support because they are bi-polar? IF this is true, and he is bipolar, then isnt this a double edged sword? If he is bi-polar then doesnt this affect his parenting abilities as well, and this should be grounds for the mother to get full custody? If this is true, then couldnt all dead beats like him do the same thing? HOW CAN SHE GET HIM TO PAY LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE DOES AND PAY HIS FAIR SHARE TO SUPPORT THIS CHILD?
