Question Pardon for Felony in Texas

My question involves expungements or pardons for the state of: TEXAS

How do I go about requesting a pardon for a 1st degree felony conviction from 1992 ?

I was sentenced to 7 years probation. Was released early after only 5 years (1997). Never been in trouble with the law since that time.

I did the crime, and served my time. But the felony conviction will haunt me for the rest of my life. I've lost several good job opportunities, as well as my basic civil rights, simply due to my criminal record. It's not right. I wasn't given a life sentence, but in a way I was.

    Thanks in advance.

Texas does not expunge the record of convicted felons.

    Oh really?

"A person who is convicted and who receives a full pardon is entitled under Article 55.01(a)(1)(B) to an expunction of all arrest records relating to the conviction."

There is a vast difference between a convicted felon and a pardoned one.

You asked about expungement and pardons.

My answer was designed to tell you that an expungement did not exist.

However, if you achieve pardon, you are no longer a convicted felon. You are then a PARDONED felon.

Further, you never mentioned your crime. Not all crimes are going to get pardoned.

    What was your felony?

    EXPUNCTION

Eligibility: You may be eligible for expunction if you meet one of the following criteria:

You were convicted but were later pardoned by the governor.

I don't know how to state this any clearer.

When you are pardoned, your status changes and you are no longer a convicted felon.

I tell you what... why don't you apply with the 10,000 others and see what your chances are.

Nobody was home at the time. I never even entered the house. I was the "get-away" driver. But in Texas, an accessory to a crime is just as guilty as the person that actually commits the crime.

I was a stupid kid (19 yrs old) that did a stupid thing. I have since gotten married and raised a family and kept my nose clean for the last 16 years.

Sorry for the miscommunication and misunderstanding. Thanks for your input.
