Quitting a Part-Time Job While Collecting Unemployment

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: New York
My question is that I am collecting ui, but I had a part time job when this happen. the job is only one day for four hours. it pays less than what ui would give me for that day. If I quit the part time job will this jeopardize my unemployment beneifts that I have. I know that you can get partial payments, I only make 38.00 for the day working part time and ui I get 95.00 for that day. I just afaid to quit the part time job, because of fear it will do somthing to my benefits. I don't understand when they say this will extend my benefits if I work part time. does that mean that they just deduct less from the money I have for ui any help understanding will be a great help to me. thanks

Normally the unemployment ins. folks do not like it when you quit a job & it can have a negative affect on UI benefits. They believe that a person doing some work (no matter how many hrs. it is) is better than not working at all. If you do quit your part-time job, you need to inform the unemployment office & they will let you know what (if any) affect it will have on your benefits.

Being laid off/terminated is one thing but there can be a negative affect on UI when you voluntarily quit a job.

It may not have that much of a negative affect on your UI though since it is only one day for four hrs. but only the UI office can tell you for sure what affect quitting will have on your benefits.
