I realize this is a popular topic and I tried to search prior threads to see if there was a match to avoid boring folks with a repeat topic, but everything seems to be unique.

We were just notified today by Public Service NC that they were going to lay a natural gas line across our property for the benefit of a neighbor (we do not have natural gas utility with PSNC). We are certain they have the right to dig across our property through some sort of easement or right of way, we just want to know what rights we may have if there are damages to our irrigation system that runs through the proposed dig area, can we require a copy of the easement before they dig? Just looking for general information or the appropriate person to contact to try and sort out advice. Have spent the day trying to navigate the Wake County government system without much success.

Any help appreciated.
