Default Law Firm Wants to Settle
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: KS

I had a cc with WaMu Bank. I received a notice from a law firm in Aug that there was a civil suit against me and if I could settle now they wouldn't proceed. The balance was 526.00 and the rep wanted to settle for 424.00 I set up a payment plan however things came up and I couldn't follow through. I did make payments 75.00 but it wasn't good enough for them. I was dealing with a rep from this law firm and she took 349.00 out of my bank account that I wasn't aware of and I had my bank send it back as not authorized. I received a call from another rep and explained to her my situation that i wasn't working and my only soi is my spouse. We've got a car payment that's behind along with 2 other personal loans, taxes and other cc's. I also explained how the rep took funds out of my account without my knowledge. So that rep got her supervisor on the line and he agreed for me to do 50 a month until the debt has been paid. 2 days later I get a call from the assistant to the attorney saying that I either settle now or they take it as a refusal and go forward with the suit. What can I do?

Did you get the agreement in writing? If not, it is worth the paper it is printed on- which is to say, nothing. Never conduct financial or legal matters over the telephone.

Definitely get any settlement/payment plan agreement in writing.
