    Arrow Personal Property "Missing"

My question involves personal property located in the State of: Florida

One night about 3months ago, i brought my laptop over to a friends house to listen to music. It had little battery life left, and i knew that i needed a new cord for it, because the old one was broken. I did not fell like walking home with the computer, so i asked him to hold on to it. He told me that he would put it inside where it is safe. not having the cord, i did not need it back right away. i did not say anything about it for awhile now. Last night i went and told him that i got a new cord and that i needed the laptop back. He replied "I don't have it" I asked where the hell did it go "umm i dont know" then i let him know that if i did not get it back that i was going to have to do something about it. He replied "ill the tell the law that you never brought anything over" "you cant prove that i had it" Personally i think he sold it for drugs, Is there anything i can do about this? And how would i go about it?

    google "gratuitous bailment"
I am not an attorney and any advice is not to be construed as legal advice. You might even want to ignore my advice. Actually, there are plenty of real attorneys that you might want to ignore as well.

You can report it to the police as stolen. Depending upon the computer, its age, and the software you have installed, it may be possible to detect it if it is connected to the Internet. You can sue your friend in small claims court, but you would have to prove that you left the computer with him and that he's responsible for the loss, and would have to collect a judgment from your drug addict friend.
