Mother Wants to Suspend Child Support

My question involves child support in the State of: New Jersey

I was speaking with my case worker today (about a different problem) and they indicated that the mother called yesterday about suspending my order. Why in the world would she want to do this? I have not talked to her since before the kid was born and frankly have no idea where she lives. She made a comment that it was due to me not being a part of the kids life. Could it be she is married and she wants her husband to be the father on record or maybe adopt?

It could be any number of reasons. You really should consult with an attorney because you don't want anything to be done without your knowledge and agreement.

If the new husband wants to adopt they need your permission to do so. Her being remarried has nothing to do with it because she can be remarried and still receive the support. Did the mother give the case worker a reason why? You need to talk to this case worker about your concerns of why this was done because if it really is not dropped, or she goes on state aid you could be later stuck with having to pay it back.

The case worker said it is because I have not been a part of the child's life since the child was born. The only logical thing I can think of is adoption by someone else. Nothing has been officially done yet since a formal motion would have to be filed in order to vacate the order. I have not formally seen anything yet from the court, but the worker gave instructions on how to do so last week.
