My question involves personal finance in the State of:Texas

My new credit report has a wrong address for me. The address in question is where my husband moved after we separated. How do I prove to the agencies I did not live there? He used the same real-estate company we had previously used. I never signed any contracts to live at this address.

If you previously held joint accounts, it wouldn't be surprising for some of your information to be smashed together. The bureaus make mistakes. I would not, as the previous poster suggested, be too quick to jump to the conclusion that your ex used your name.

Write a letter to each of the three credit reporting agencies correcting your address. You may submit a copy of a utility bill or rental agreement as evidence if you wish, but it's usually not necessary to do more than explain that the address on file is incorrect and belongs to someone else, and provide your correct address.
