Default Evicting a Roomate in Ft Worth, Texas

My question involves a roommate in the State of: Texas

I own my home and allowed a friend going through a divorce to move in on a verbal aggreement to pay rent. He has not paid rent for two months now and when he did not have money for me today, I told him I want him to leave. If there is no written agreement or lease, can I simply just ask him to move out and change the locks or do I have to go through an eviction process?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

You charged rent. That means you're his landlord. You need to evict him for nonpayment.

I am sure you can do such. I would give a written notice with some date just to cover your bases and give them a chance to comply. But, you are the owner of the property.
