My question involves criminal law for the state of: new york
Three years ago I was arrested for driving while impaired -1192 (1) My license was taken away for one year, I was fined and ordered to attend classes. I complied to all the rules. I was told that it was considered a traffic infraction and that I would not have a criminal record. I have since graduated college and registered to substitute teach in Ct.. When asked on the job application wether or not I was ever convicted of a crime, I answered no because I was told that I did not have a record. Routine fingerprints were taken and I was terminated from the job because they said that I had lied. Am I a criminal and do I have to answer yes to that answer the rest of my life for making one VERY stupid mistake three years ago? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!
