    Default Locating the Judgment Debtor

My question involves judgment recovery in the State of: MA

I have a small claims judgment that I am trying to collect.
I have the old address the guy used to live at, but not anymore. He has his mail forwarded by the post office. So, I sent a letter there with "return service requested", and got it back with the forwarding address (oh, I thought I was so smart! ).

But, when I tried to get the Notice to Show Cause served at that address, it turned out that it's a UPS store. The constable that attempted the service for me said that he tried looking the guy up in the DMV records, and that he is registered at that address there as well (which, I am told, is illegal) ...

So, my question is if somebody here can think of something I could try doing to locate the guy (other than hiring a PI to watch the UPS store) and/or force him to disclose his address... E.g., would the RMV do anything if I ratted him out, that he has a bogus address? Or do they not care?

    Any thoughts are appreciated!

If you can find a source where somebody has his actual address, you can try to get his address from that source. If you have no source for his actual address, I know of no way to produce it from thin air.

Report it and see what happens.

who told you it was illegal? it is NOT illegal to have a ups box for a address, many people use these boxes for their addresses, for some it is probably their only address, such as homeless, or retired living in campgrounds, etc. as i posted earlier, i use one in different state and have mail forwarded.

Massachusetts law requires driver's licenses to include "a photograph of the licensee, the distinguishing number or mark assigned to the licensee, his name, his place of residence and address, a brief description of him for purposes of identification, and such other information as the registrar shall deem necessary." When you apply for a license you can ask that it be mailed to your post office box, but must also, separately indicate your residential address. So unless your P.O. box is so big that you can live in it, Massachusetts requires you to disclose where you actually live and mandates that your actual place of residence be reflected on your license. Presumably that could be a homeless shelter.

having a PI watch the place wont help, at my ups store they will forward the mail anywhere for the cost of a large envelope. so he doesnt even have to show up to get mail. BUT when i opened my box,. they wanted my drivers liscense and current address to put on file. AND if he has it forwarded someplace they would have that info obviously. maybe the more knowledgeable can tell you how you could get that info. also you have to let them know if you want them to accept certified mail. if he allowed it you might serve him that way. my guess is if he went to these lengths, he probably has his assets well hidden. if he has a gullable girlfriend, he can talk her into being a power of attorney on her checking acct, and can use it as his own without creditors finding out as you dont have to use a ss number to be a poa. so they cant track it to you.
on the other note. in california my drivers liscense lists only my po box for a address, i just called the dmv and both people i spoke to said it was perfectly legal to use. the main reason they want a physical address is for emergency. they say they issue all the time to general delivery at post offices, but post office for some reason has hard time delivering.
