Default Being sued by a credit card company
I just received a summons from a law firm suing me for a credit card that I didn't open. My mother opened the credit card without my knowledge and now I am being sued for unpaid bills. I never once recevied a bill and the address on what they sent me is not even mine. Do I still have to pay for a credit card that I didn't open? The address is not mine and I've never recevied a bill and they didn't call me or try to contact me until it went into collections. What can I do? Please help.

Default Fraudulent Credit Card Account
The credit card company may well respond to a police report indicating that the application resulted from fraud by your mother; but that might also result in the criminal prosecution of your mother. The best approach would otherwise apparently be to have your mother pay off her debt, to get you out of this mess.

There should be information on the summons and complaint about filing an answer, and the deadlines for filing your answer. File an answer, raise all appropriate defenses, and show up for court.

The following I received:
Alias Summons

You are summoned and required eitehr:
1. To file your written appearnce by yourself or your attorney and pay the required fee in Room 602, Richard J. Daily Center, Chicago, Illinois at or before 9:30 a.m. on 1/10/06

2. To file your answer to the complaint in Room 602 as required by Par. 3 (c) in the Notice to Defendant below. If you fail to do so, a jdugement by default may be taken against you for the relief asked in the complaint, a copy of which is hereto attached.

What does this mean? I am so lost? My total amount (with late fees) comes up to 5393.03?

What should I do?
