When I was in the UAE I left owing some credit card debt. I thought I had cleared everything. Now I have a collection law firm calling saying I owe some large amount of cash for a credit card. This debt is over 6 years old. What are my rights? Can they do anything to me in the states?
As I see it, you have the "right" to pay the debt, dispute the debt, or ignore them. If they wish to try to pursue you i the states for a foreign debt, they may do so; it's more complicated for them, but it's possible.
