Default Answering a Complaint - What should my response say?

I recieved a summons for an old debt. The court cleck stated that I must write a letter to the court and to the lawyer. What should my letter state? I know that I owe this money and have tried to work with this C.C. company. They have actually told me that I needed to give them what I owed them in a lump sum and and that I needed to "get off your ass and get a job and that whole pregnancy scan isn't working". I am unemployed and am pregnant and will not work due possible complications to my pregnacy. I am and have been willing to give them something even though it isn't very much but I would think that something is better than nothing. How do I tell them that ? Will they actually work me? What should the letter actually state?

    Thank you for your time

    Default Answering a Complaint

Your answer to a complaint should respond to the allegations in the complaint, and raise any affirmative defenses (e.g., the statute of limitations). You would benefit from the assistance of a local lawyer.
