I Want Legal Custody of My Boys Back

In 2002 I was incarcerated and my mother said that the court gave her a paper for her to get my boys in school,medical attention needed,etc...In 2003 i came home and immediatly 1 of the boys came to live with me.Then shortly there after the other 2 in the beginning of 2005.There was never a problem with her having custody and we didnt really have the money to go back to court so we just left it.Now she is causing some problems and I need to know what I can do.She keeps throwing up to me that she still has custody and can do what she wants.She has drawn AFDC foodstamps as well as ,up until May of this year, Child support!!They had not even been living with her.The one son that came to live with me had only stayed with her about 3 months then went to live with his father.Yet she STILL drew child support!!!I never signed anything and I did NOT go to jail over anything concerning my boys.I don't know what to do or if she even had full guardiship or if it was tempory until I got out.As I said it was never a problem and I never imagined she would do some of the things she is doing now.Thank you for any help you can give me.

If there is a court order granting your mother guardianship, and you've had custody of your kids for years despite the order, go back to the court that awarded the guardianship and ask that the order be terminated.

I personally have never saw any kind of paperwork.Which is why I'm not sure exactly what 'kind' of custody she has.As I said It was never a problem before and I always went by what she herself said.Now the way she is acting I dont really know if "legal guardianship"is what she has.Is there any way I can find out for sure even though it was so long ago?Or do I simply go to or call the court it took place at?I ask because it was in Grainger co. And it is just a little backwoods county.I thought I had to sign papers for something like this though.....
