I received a call from the collection agency that has been calling for the credit card company. The investigator told me that CitiBank would be pursuing an asset investigation and legal action could follow. What exactly is an asset investigation?

It's hard to say - it isn't a precise term. It may be that they're exercising their rights under contract (assuming you contractually gave them such rights - credit card applications are full of fine print terms and conditions) to verify your bank accounts and their balances, or are looking at public records to see what assets or resources you have which might be used to satisfy a judgment.

I made a huge mistake. I am a foreign student. I had a credit card debt of around $8,000. I was always regular on my payments. but I didn't have job for 2 months due to some document processing. But I still managed to pay off the minimum balances. But all of a sudden I couldn't just take it anymore and decided to fly back home, not worrying about my credit card debts. It has been almost 2 years since that happened. I don't know what happend afterwards and what is my outstanding debt right now. Now I have to go back to school in US. I am honestly willing to pay the loans off at a small amount every month, the question is :

1) how do I make this arrangement, since I have 5 different credit cards and interest rate is really high?

2) will this incident result in my arrest when I will be entering USA.

3) would this incident result in rejection of my F1 visa?

if you can kindly answer these questions I will really appreciate that.
