hey everyone, i hope you can answer some of my questions and give me some advice. I recently got a reckless driving charge for sliding around a couple corners in an ARIZONA parking lot. While i know this is a stupid thing to do, i wasn't going more than 15 miles an hour and there wasn't any person or car within 200 yards of me and the only things possible to hit would be curbs, which would only do damage to my own vehicle.
I just went to my arraignment and plead not guilty(should have done some research first) and found out from the police department that they don't have jurisdiction on private property for traffic violations unless they think i'm endangering someone. When i think about it though, the cop didn't pull me over until about half a mile later and simply said i don't need to tell you why i pulled you over do i? and then told me he was talking with someone about a domestic disturbance and heard my tires in the parking lot and was telling me how i could have hurt someone, and he asked me if i saw him. I really think that he didn't even see my car in the parking lot but guessed and thats why he asked me if i needed to know why he pulled me over.
Anyways i don't know how to go about this, should i get a lawyer?? or just dress nicely be polite and explain that i didn't think it was illegal and didn't consider myself to be endangering anyone or myself?
