Default Will Minor Child Be Allowed to Come if Parent's I-130 is Approved?

    Hello, Everyone!

Every email will be appreciated. I am getting my citizenship in Nov. 2008 My husband and I are going to file I -130 for my mother and 12-year old sister who are in Ukraine. We understand that my mother's and my sister's applications would be in different preferance categories. According to USCIS customer service rep. at the time when my mother's application is approved and she is interviewed at the Embassy, she needs to ask if the consul would grant an immigrant visa for my sister (since she is a minor). Is it correct? What are our chances on that request being granted? Has anybody been in a similar sutuation? I am so worried that my sister can be left behind. Please, help with advice.

    Yes, it is.

While we can't predict the outcome for you, it is rare that such a request would not be granted.

Thank you, thank you a million times for your response. I was hoping to hear from you. I am very interested in the info you have found about that. If it is not too much trouble for you, please, let me know where I could read about it or learn more. Was it from experiences of other people or maybe some other way? Thanks a lot,

    Zhenya.

P.S. If there is anyway for me to thank you for your help, let me know and I will.
