My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: CA
I owe a significant amount of credit card debt. Can making payments prior to the due date but less than the minimum amount hold off default and the sending of the debt to a collection agency?

That is an arrangment you'll have to make with the ccc.

Agree that this is an agreement/arrangement you would have to reach with the credit card co. & if they would agree, get the agreement in writing. You can't just send less than the minimum amount due without expecting the credit card co. to possibly pursue further action unless first talking to the creditor.
