Default Removal of Father from Birth Certificate
My question involves paternity law for the State of: minnesota
I recently learned that I am the father of a child from an affair 15 years ago. The mother named a guy the father that she was seeing at the time to protect there relationship. They split up after he had taken a DNA and proved it wasn't his when the child was 2 or 3. He did continue to play dad until recently when the mother was placed in a nursing home due to medical problems. The father then told the child he wasn't her dad and kicked her out. She has been staying with her moms' parents. When she learned from her mom who her real father was she looked me up. We have since built a relationship and I wish to do the right thing, but this other guy now decided he doesn't want to let her go. He has his name on the birth certificate and I need to know how to remove him and place me on it. I reside in Iowa but the birth was in Minnesota. I have spoken with the mom and she would be willing to sign any legal docs needed to help me what legal recourse do I have?

You need an attorney.... tomorrow.

Start a paternity suit. This needs to be all cleared up in court.
