My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: NY
I have about $ 38,000.00 in credit card debts. I can't pay them because my low paid job does not allow me. Recently, I received an offer to move to Canada. I decided to accept it. What happens to my debts?
They continue to accrue interest, will go to collections (if they haven't already) and your credit is trashed.
They'll be waiting for you if you return to the US, with interest. Leaving the US will stop the statute of limitations, meaning that when you come back, you can be sued for these debts.
