Question Debt Collection in Florida
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Florida , what is the law about hours a collection agency can call ? is it legal for them to harass you on a sunday as well ? thx

They can call you 7 days a week between 8 am and 9 pm, up to 7 times a day if they don't speak with you, and once per day if they DO speak with you.

So long as they stay within those parameters, it's considered a legitimate business purpose (assuming you are their customer), and not harassment.

Agree, if they speak to you (or even leave a message), they can only call once a day 7 days a week between the hrs. of 8am & 9pm.

Adding to my above post, the Federal Trade Commission has said the following:

Although the FDCPA does not specifically say how many times collectors can call, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has published their interpretation of the FDCPA. The FTC says debt collectors' calls must be for a productive purpose such as verifying information, following up on a previous conversation and so forth. They cannot keep calling you for the sole purpose of demanding payment; doing so is harassment.
