My question involves guardianship in the State of: arkansas
We currently have an infant and the mother signed consent to guardianship. The final order should be signed by the judge any day now. We are not related to the child. Wat are the childs rights to be in a safe and stable environment. I am told that no matter how unstable the mother is, until a court finds her unfit to be around the child she has the right to come get the child anytime she wants and keep the child as long as she wants. We are to rearrange our schedules and the infants schedule in order to accomidate the mother. To us it feels like this child has no rights at all. I'm very confused at the whole thing and i guess i just figured once the final order was signed we would be able to keep the child safe and monitor things a little bit closer. But we are told even if we can't verify the mother has a home, job, or means to take care of this baby, and even though the mother has yelled at the baby we still have to let her have the baby anytime she wants and for as long as she wants.
