I posted this in the wrong thread My question involves a child custody case from the State of: PA
My niece was taken from her mother and is now in emergency foster care. Tomorrow is the dependency hearing. My sister wrote 2 letters awarding me either temp custody or permenent legal guardianship. Are these letters legal and have some say since children and youth do not have custody yet? The child has been at my home most of the time and she is like one of my own. I need advice on how I can try to get legal guardianship without my niece entering the fostercare system and awarded custody to the state. Any advice on what I can do would be greatly appreciated. and no there is no father in the picture, she does not know who he is. She is in psyciatric care right now for attempted suicide. I can NOT afford a lawyer. Please help~!
