Default Does Aggravated Assault Charge Mean I Can't Get A Real Job?
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Pennsylvania

I was arrested in January 2008 of Aggrivated Assault against 2 police officers. I was the only person that night who did not throw a punch or hit anyone. What I admit doing is taking a night stick out of an officers hand. I was being choked because the officer was holding me up with the night stick while the other officers were pushing me down. I took the night stick and threw in an open space not hitting anyone. I was arrested a jailed for a week until bail was posted. I lost my job and everything. I have had three interviews and 1 job that I started yesterday 09/06/2008. I was fired today 09/17/2008 because of these charges. Although I agreed to be an "at-will employee" is there any laws that can help me get and maintain a job? I have not worked since I was arrested.

No employer is required to give you a job at all, let alone if you are unable to pass their requirements for a background check.

Were you convicted of these charges or are you still awaiting trial?

If you were not convicted and there is no disposition within 18 months, you may apply for expungement.
