30 Years Old-Do I Have a Right to Prove Paternity?
My question involves paternity law for the State of: Alabama
I am almost 30 years old and the man who raised me (who is now deceased) was married to my mother and on my birth certificate. My biological father has never acknowledged me personally although he has to my mother. Do I have any grounds to have paternity proven? Just for clarification, I do not want anything from this man besides maybe a medical history. I have a brother whom I don't think knows that I exist and I'm not even sure that I would want him to. I would just like to know what-if any-options I have.
Re: 30 Years Old-Do I Have a Right to Prove Paternity?
You can try to convince him to undergo a paternity test, or try to convince the person you believe is your brother to permit testing. The latter test is not as accurate, but may give a very good idea of whether or not you're related.
