    Default Default Judgement

My question involves judgment recovery in the State of:MO

    Hello,

I did not show up in court yesterday for an $700.00 outstanding credit card debt so I now know I have a default judgement against me. My question is how will I be notified of this judgement, will I be served again by the sheriff's department? I reside in the state of Missouri.

If you didn't show up in court & the creditor/coll. agcy. got a default judgment against you, you will most likely be hearing from them wanting their money. They might request the court to allow them to garnish your wages.

How will I hear from my creditors? Will I be served with court papers (from the sherriff) about my default judgement or will I get a letter in the mail from my creditor?

Depending upon the court's procedure, you should receive a copy of the judgment either from the court or from the plaintiff (or their attorney, if they're represented). If you want a copy sooner, you can check with the court to see if the final judgment has been entered and, if so, get one from the court.

Thank You for your response. I'm not too concerned about getting it sooner I was just hoping something like this is mailed to me vs. served as I am going out of town and my nosey sister in law will be staying at my house and I dont want the sheriff's department to come knocking on my door while she is there.

No, you're not "served" with it at home from the sheriff's dept. (or anyone) such as you are with a summons.
