My nephew ran away from his Indiana home, to kentucky where he had lived a year prior to. His mother HAS reported him as a runaway in indiana.

to make matters a littel worse, my nephew got into some trouble in kentucky and was kicked out of the state until he is 18 (this happened a little more than a year ago).

We (myself and my husband) have had some contact with him through myspace, and has told us that he is staying wih random ppl he knows, friends, friends of friends.. etc. I know for a fact that he would be willing to live with us in our ohio home, but not necessarily with his mothers consent.

Is there anything that i can do to help my nephew legally? I dont want him running the streets or living with ppl he doesnt know. I know i would get charged with harboring a runaway just taking him in without telling anyone, and i dont want that, especially having a child of my own.

its hard to look this kind of thing up, because there are 3 states involved with their own laws in sure. Some advise or knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

Have you talked to his mother, ask her how she feels about him coming to stay with you for now. I would rather my child be with family then on the street..
