We say that because you're HERE instead of in your attorney's office.

You would not BELIEVE how many people think we're going to be able to get them out of their charges, when really all we're here for is to point people in the right direction.

Because you asked. I gave you what your looking at but I can't predict the out come as my crystal ball is in the shop. The lawyer that you were told to hire yesterday has a better chance of getting the felony reduced to a misdemeanor, other than that what did you expect?

Because unless you are willing to sell everything you have to get an embarrassingly expensive attorney, you are going to spend the rest of your life working jobs that require a paper hat.

I think people expect miracles. And for free.

Very few people want to hear that defending yourself in court is really NOT a do-it-yourself project, that you really do need to hustle up the cash to pay a pro, and that you just make it worse for yourself if you wander into court without one.

I certainly am comfortable digging around in the statutes to point people in the right direction, but you can bet your Mama's farm that if I was looking at jail, I'd be in an attorney's office five seconds after I'd been charged, and I would commence to selling possessions to pay for it.

Hah. Yes they do.

They throw fits on general sites, too, that specifically explain that they should ALWAYS consult a professional.

I cannot tell you how many times I handled medical questions at Google Answers - explaining what this drug or that procedure was for - where the customer had a tantrum because I finished with "But you really need to discuss this with your doctor, because it may interact with other medications/have nasty side effects/not be appropriate for you."
