Default Assault by a Taxi Driver
My question involves criminal law for the state of: British Columbia

I paid the taxi driver through my credit card and after couple hours he was back at my home ( when i wasn't there ) he started yelling at my family saying that the card declined and he will not take any card payments, only cash. My parents called me and i had to rush back home as my parents can't speak english they got scared.

When i got back I explained him that there are funds in my card I don't understand why the funds not transferred and I told him i don't want to be charged by card and cash so I wont pay cash. He got pissed and grabbed my jacket collars. I called visa to figure out why they can't get the money and found that the company was putting the wrong expiry date for the cards and that's why the payment got decline.

Once the guy figured out he just took off. without saying sorry and he keep yelling at me that I should be thankful that he came all the way.

the worst thing is the guy yelled at my in front of all my neighbors and yelled at my parents. they are so scared as they dont understand the situation.

It is not only Assault but they charged me $2 extra which i wouldn't have noticed if the driver never came back. My mom is so scared that the guy wanted to hurt me I am really angry on his arrogant behavior.

I need some legal help. Please advice whom should i contact.

Thanks

maybe somebody in Canada?

There are very few hear that know anything about Canadian law. There are a few but I suspect their knowledge is limited concering Canadian law.

If this were in the US, I would suggest contacting the police to file a report and assault charges and why he grabbed you is actually irrelevent. The fact is he broke (US) law simply by grabbing you.

Thanks

JK.

I filed a complaint against the company as it is part of their mistake as well.
I even talked to the people asking them to process the card again to check if they can get the payment in 2nd try but they refused to try again and told me that they can only process once.

Should I go for the lawyer as there are more then 1 thing involved.
