Is there not a statute of limitations for a collection agency to call after 4 years of not hearing from anyone.
I have a bad credit card debt from a divorce. I thought that after 2 years of no activity, that credit collectors could not call me on an old debt. Is this true?
Unfortunately that's not correct. The statute of limitations for debt collection varies by state, and would rarely be as short as two years. Some collection agencies will even attempt to collect an expired debt.
