    Default Investigating the Investigator

My question involves private investigators in the state of: MO

Recently my family and I have been harassed, stalked and received what I word term as threatening communications over the net and telephone by an individual representing himself as a Private Investigator. He even has a website that advertises his firm and a multitude of investigative services. The e-mail on the site matches the one his e-mails to me originated. Being very suspicious of his credentials because his his alarming and unprofessional conduct I did a bit of research on him and his company. As it turns out he isn't even a licensed investigator as required by his municipality (MO requires no statewide licensing yet). He does hold a permit for auto repo, but that is his is only credential.

Furthermore, on additional "investigation" I discovered this individual has a criminal record including federal wire fraud and stealing from his employer. He also has numerous restraining orders and civil suits. According to the requirements from his city which I obtained, these violations would preclude him from obtaining a PI license or acting as a PI.

My question is to what authority should he and his company be reported and by what method? I wish to remain anonymous due to the threatening nature of his actions.

He already knows who you are.

If you think he's a threat, seek a restraining order.

If his municipality requires a license, then contact the municipality first to report him.

If his behavior is indeed threatening, then document EVERYTHING and contact your local police department and go from there.
