Default Removing Non-Father From a Birth Certificate

My question involves name change laws in the State of: Virginia/ Michigan

I live in michigan but the change took place in Virginia. This is a very odd situation. My biological mother which hasn't had rights to me since i was 2 years old when I was 17 added a guy to my birth certificate they both signed for it but there was never a paternity done and I want him removed because my father was awarded custody by the courts when I was six, and the guy that is on my birth certificate is someone i don't know. How do i get him removed? what steps should i take

my biological mother told him he was my father so he went with her to vital records in richmond va and they had him added i'm not sure of all the details. when i contacted vital records they gave me the information until i communicated a problem and they told me my case was closed and there was nothing else they could do for me and haven't given me any information on the matter since then.
