Ohio Child Support and Medical Support

My question involves child support in the State of: OH

Here goes. Son is 8. Support was ordered when he was 6. His mother did not get me for the back child support. Does this include the medical bills she racked up for him? $7000.

Medical Support was Ordered. I was told I was to provide Health insurance. I dont have a job with health insurance. My son is suffering here. She will not get any due to the fact I was ordered. Am I responsible for medical bills now? 100%? If I had the insurance shouldnt we spilt the cost of what insurance doesnt cover?

Any feed back would be appreciated. Even the total negative deadbeat dad stuff.

Whether or not the order included or excluded medical costs is something you can determine only by reading the order.

If you are responsible for providing health insurance and have failed to do so, you should expect that a court will order you to pay any bills that would be covered by insurance had you followed its order.

You should check with your county government to see if they have any programs to extend insurance to uninsured children. See if he qualifies for Health Start.

If you truly cannot afford insurance, you need to go back to court and seek the modification of the order.

If the mother can insure the child through her employment, she might be willing to do so if you offer to pay the increase in premiums; however, if she agrees, this too should be filed with the court for the protection of both of you.
