Default Is There a Statute of Limitations for Annulment

    State of TN:

Is there a Statue of Limitations on getting an Annulment?

For example: In TN, it is difficult to get an Annulment so I have been told; however, (1) I did not consummate the marriage, but naturally no witnesses [duh]; (2) lived together only 3 or 4 weeks; (3) by now, he is probably an illegal alien ... situation rather complicated. That plus the money to pay. So I have been putting it off for almost 3 years.

So is there a time limit (hence, statue of limitations] when trying to get an annulment?

There's a de facto time limit on annulment - if you stay married for an appreciable amount of time after you learn of a basis for annulment, you should anticipate that a court will determine that you forgave your spouse. Consult a local lawyer about your options, but don't be surprised if you're told "After three years, you need to get a divorce."

    Thank you and boohooooo!

Does this include even if I did not know where he was? Would I have been able to have received an annulment if I was unable to locate him???
