Question Can a Ward of the State Change States?

My question involves guardianship in the State of: Minnesota
In short my father is a ward of the state of Minnesota. I will not go into the reasons, but he does suffer from a form of dementia and has been a ward of the state of MN for five years. The trouble is, I live in Pennsylvania. I have been told I am not qualified to be his guardian which is fine, but I would like him transferred to a home nearer to me. #1 Can I do this? #2 If I can, I imagine I am going to have to hire an attorney and how much will that cost? I really want to be a part of my father's life, but with him being so far away it is most difficult.

Yes, you should get a consult with an attorney to see if a transfer is possible or not. This is something that you will definately need to hire an attorney for. The only way to find out the costs will be to ask some attorneys.

What is the reason that you cannot move closer to your father?
That might be the best option for you depending on your circumstances.
