Default Question About Assaulting a Minor
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Colorado.

Hi, I um under the age of 18, and I am currently at odds with a co-worker of mine who is 18. While we have kept our disagreements civil up until this point, I do know that my co-worker has a very quick temper and would not hesitate to physically hurt me if he was angry enough.
I have told both my parents and my bosses about our disagreements, and they are aware of the situation. However,I still feel that there is a possibility of him physically assaulting me. I would like to know what my rights as a victim would be if he were to physically attack me. What sort of action would I be able to take against him, if any? And what sort of sentencing might he receive from the courts, should he physically harm me?

Thank you,

Default Re: Quiestion(S) About Assaulting a Minor
There's no way to know possible sentencing without knowing the exact charges - which would depend on the extent of any injuries, whether or not a weapon was used, whether or not it was mutual combat, and a host of other things that can only be evaluated once they occur.

What can you do if an assault is attempted? You can flee, call for help, or defend yourself - but not actions BEYOND those needed for self defense (meaning just enough to repel an attack), otherwise you too would be looking at criminal charges.

Default Re: Question About Assaulting a Minor
Typically, battery against an unrelated minor is the same as battery against anyone else. Your being under 18 is not going to confer you much in the way of special status under the law unless he is your guardian or the two of you live together.
