My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Michigan
My 17 Year old daugher is for the most part a good kid, Grades in school are solid, people thing she is friendly.. We are a middle class family ...
Here is the issue:
She has a girl friend that is appearently a regular pot smoker ,, She and my daugther were arrested about 8 months ago for it and my daughters cases was dismissed because she was good for 6 months... My wife and I have now caught our daughter "dirty" with a drug test a few months ago... We now found pot on the other day ... She took off to this friends house and has been there three days ... We have talked to my daughter and said we want her home ..she will need to obey the rules .....
My Questions:
1. It appears the other girl and my daughter are not good for each other .. The other girls dad ... say there is no way his daughter is smoking pot .. We have discussed it now with him three times. Can I get a "non contact" order against the girl and her father ? This would keep my daughter out of their house and reduce her options. This may also cause the friendship to colallape.
2. What resoures are their to find the rest of our rights as her parents? (we were going to call the police, but are a little worried about taking that step)My daughter thinks she is going to move out and get an apartment ..Finish her Senior Year .... All on a couple hundred dollars a month ..

1. Yes, you can try for a no contact order, it sounds like you have valid reasons for one. Collapsing the friendship would be the best thing for your daughter, so hopefully it will work.
2. Go ahead and call the police, your daughter has already been arrested once. For resources, try your local mental health center, they usually have a list of resources available to parents, including family counseling.
