Default Creditor sold debt; old debt reported as new
I joined with Bally's on 12/99 and then never paid again. Bally's was listed on my credit report as seriously deliquent. Now, another creditor bought the debt, and Bally's shows as "Account in good standing". The problem is that the debt is being reported as new through the new debt holder. The Bally's account had an "opened date" of 12/99. Now, the "new" debt has 6/2004.

Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Default Credit Report Error
You should contact the creditor indicating that the information is in error, and asking them to either verify and correct the information or remove it from your credit history.
