    Default Defamation of Character

My question involves defamation in the state of: MO

our neighbor has called he cops on us 12 times in the last year for trespassing, he has filed charges on my husband for trespassing, now what is funny about this is that it is not my children in this guys yard, it is the other neighborhood children who happen to be playing with my children in our driveway, (we have a basketball goal and large driveway for the children to play in). The cops come out everytime the children are playing, they then come to my house and there is always two police cars that come. The police just tell us, we are not going to do anything but we just wanted to let you know that your neighbor called us complaining. The police at my house all the time makes my family look very discredible and this is bothersome to me. How many times is he allowed to call the police on us and no charges be filed?

Are you suggesting that some law exists somewhere that says, you may make complaints about your neighbors x times but not x+1?

I am simply stating, when does it become harrassment when he calls the cops to my house every other day for allowing my children to play outside with adult supervision/ IF there are no charges ever filed, or reports made, then he must not have a case, so why must we constantly put up with this? We have looked into moving (i do not want my children near this man anymore) but with the housing market we are forced to deal with it at this time.

How sad is it that my children are told they can not go outside and play in fear of this guy sending the cops to our house? And that my 4 and 6 year old kids get yelled at for wanting to fetch a ball.

We have lived here 8 years, the man has lived there 6, we have attempted several times to speak to him, he does not wave, or smile or speak to anyone (except the homeowners to bitch). We even set up a Mediator meeting and he did not show up. What else are we suppose to do? I refuse to be a recluse in my house and force my children to play inside on beautiful days, but I should be able to do so with out law enforcement comming to my house complaining of OTHER PEOPLES children.

Hire a lawyer and sue the bad person.

Set aside three years (if quick) and $30K (if cheap).

    Post back with results.

I don't really see where there is anything you can do to keep him for calling the police. Sorry.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
