Emancipation in Louisiana

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Louisiana

I have a friend that is 17 and will not be 18 for about another 9 months. She has a two month old child. She was married because the father was over 18, but in the process of divorce or it might even be final now. She is now seeing another man that is 22. They are thinking of moving in together, but unsure how the law works in Louisiana. Can the 22 year old get in trouble with the law for having this 17 year old living with him. It is my understanding she has paperwork showing that she has been emancipated. Please help!

Was your friend emancipated by right of marriage? If so, the divorce may have nullified that and returned her to unemancipated status.

She needs to be consulting a lawyer about her status.

In any case, by the time an emancipation petition wended its way through the courts, she'd be 18 already.
