Domestic Violence
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Iwas visiting in Illinois...there was a domestic problem the police were called...person who called became violent with officers was arrested...later after I had left..person in question called to say I was going to be arrested and extradited to Illinois for giving of false information...that this is a Class C Felony...my question is this true... is it a felony? is it an extraditable offense..and can someone else take this charge for me as I was led to believe. I live in Florida

Re: Domestic Violence
The short answer is... it depends.
If you gave false information to police and it resulted in the arrest of another, you could be in serious trouble.

Re: Domestic Violence
okay...again I will state the person that called the police, was areested because he became violent and assaulted the police...it had nothing to do with anything said against them...at the police station upon the first call made by that person, asked me to leave and said that if I needed to make phone calls or anything to go to the station and they would be glad to help me. they completely sided with me advised after a few hours that I not return there, but a minor child was there that was still visiting and the childs other parent, asked that I return there until arrangements could be made for the child and I to travel home...then the probelm arose again this time with the use of physical force, police called rest history...but party called to say that I was going to be arrested and extradited...family and friends said that it sounded like just a threat...but officers involved not on duty again til weekend so I can't ask them and i was worried about it... seemed to me that any information I gave was just my personal for the report and that couldn't be faldse or even a a Class C felony.

Re: Domestic Violence
It's never a good idea to listen to the legal rantings of a person who was arrested for assaulting you. No way, no how, is any law enforcement person going to share that information with HIM, and no way, no how, would any officer who was planning on arresting you TELL anyone so - unless they WANTED you go on the run to avoid arrest (not).
