Post Anything You Can Do for False Accusations

My question involves criminal law for the state of: tennessee

my wifes ex boyfriend had accused her of stealing items from a joint storage building. they were not married and long story short charges were dropped but we were still out money for bail and we had relocated to arkansas and been there several years before we even found out about the charges. So also out att fees and travel to court, believe it was 3 trips total. So worst is behind us i guess but would still like to recoup some of the losses from the false accusations that were made. What would the options be. any ideas from anyone.

You could try small claims court, but you would have to convince a court that any other reasonable person wouldn't also have believed that your wife stole the items.
