Default Child Abuse Statute of Limitations

No statute of limitations that would otherwise preclude
prosecution for an offense involving the sexual or physical abuse,
or kidnaping, of a child under the age of 18 years shall preclude
such prosecution during the life of the child.

Does this mean that the statue of federal limitations ends after the child turns 18 or that there is no statute??

Default Statute of Limitations - Protect Act

That is a statute - 18 USC 3283, which is part of the Protect Act. For federal offenses covered by that statute, the limitations period for prosecution is extended for up to the life of the child victim.

i guess i am not interpreting this correctly, what does the life of the child mean? The rest of the person's life or the life of the child meaning until they reach adulthood
