Default Five Counts of Aggravated Assault
My question involves criminal law for the state of: IL
Hi I recently was charged with 5 counts of aggravated assault. I had almost gotten jumped. The people threw beer bottles at me and everything. Anyways supposably I had a knife on me as the people are claiming. I had gotten arrested but no evidence was found on me. This would be my first offense. Does anyone know what I am looking at if found guilty. Also no one was hurt, except some one had put a long scratch on my back.

Aggravated assault is a Class A misdemeanor in the state of Illinois, and typically is handled on a case by case basis.

The court will consider the circumstances of the assault and your prior record, if any, before determining punishment.

An attorney is a good idea.

Yeah I hired an attorney. The people did not show up to court yesterday. I was hoping they would of threw it out. But I have court again in a month. Like I said this will be my 1st offense. I have no prior criminal record. I am pretty nervous about the whole situation. My attorney filed for motion of discovery. So we shall see what happens. I hope the people don't show up for the next court date.
