Ah, the old "my hand slipped off the clutch" excuse. If you can find someone who will believe that, let me know -- I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell them.
You should consider yourself lucky. Negligent second is WAY better than reckless. At least it's a traffic infraction and not a misdemeanor, so you won't have a criminal record. And, the best part, depending on your judge, you might be able to get it deferred, if you're otherwise eligible. That way it will stay off your record entirely (as long as you keep your clutch hand dry for the next year). And that means no insurance increase!
