Default Negligent Driving In The Second

My question involves a careless driving ticket from the State of: Washington

OK so I just got my first ticket, I bought a bike and just got my motorcycle permit a week before the ticket. I was leaving from a light and as I was leaving my hand slipped on the clutch causing the front tire to come off the ground a little. It was a extremely hot day and my hands were sweaty from sitting in traffic. How ever there was another bike by me and he decided to do a full out wheelie like really long and high. So I get to the next light just sitting there the other bike in front of me. Well all sudden a state patrol comes up from behind tells us both to pull over. Gets out says were both being arrested for Reckless Driving goes to his car for a while then comes back with two tickets for Neg 2. BTW if it matters he wrote down the wrong color of my bike on the ticket dont know if that matters at all. But anyways I wanted to know what I should do about this the ticket is $550 dollars. I have sent it back contesting it.

Ah, the old "my hand slipped off the clutch" excuse. If you can find someone who will believe that, let me know -- I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell them.

You should consider yourself lucky. Negligent second is WAY better than reckless. At least it's a traffic infraction and not a misdemeanor, so you won't have a criminal record. And, the best part, depending on your judge, you might be able to get it deferred, if you're otherwise eligible. That way it will stay off your record entirely (as long as you keep your clutch hand dry for the next year). And that means no insurance increase!

    Good luck,
    Barry
Where am I going? And why am I in this handbasket?
