Very Frustrated with Compensation

My husband was hurt on the job almost 3 years ago. He does not actually receive workers comp checks, he gets paid from the company he worked for. The insurance company they chose to insure them was merging with another company and wrote the workers comp policy and than the merger fell through. So the policy was no good. He has had 1 surgery and 2 injections and they are still saying that he needs to have his back fused. He lives in pain daily and here lately it has been worse. At this point no one will give him medical attention because the doctors he was seeing will not release him but they will not treat him because the insurace co. is not paying the medical bills. We have a lawyer but I do not feel that he is doing anything to help or who knows maybe his hands are tied as well.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions?

I suggest that your husband schedule an appointment with his lawyer to discuss his frustrations, and to try to figure out how the case is going to proceed. If he is not satisfied with the outcome of that meeting, I suggest that he obtain a second opinion from another workers' compensation lawyer in your state. (Note that he doesn't have to switch lawyers just because he talks to a second firm.)
