How Can an Independent Contractor Secure Payment

So.....I was contracted to do some filma dn video work for a band through a record label, for i am an independent contractor/freelance employee. I did several jobs for this record label, sent them invoices after invoice and have not been paid. Some of these invoices date as far back as November of 2004. I have been consistent and diligent with these folks and still no check. what are my rights and what can be done.?????

Can you show that your work was accepted and/or used by the company?

If you have to sue them over the debt on the basis of an oral contract, evidence that they accepted your work or used your work will help support your claim that there was a valid contract. Similarly, if they have not responded to your inquiries, it is harder for them to claim that they didn't think they owed the bill - most companies will object if billed in error.

You may ultimately have to sue them.
