Default Collection agency reporting old debts
I have a credit card debt that ended up being a charge off and closed 5years ago. The original amount was somewhere around $1000. This debt has went thru several collection agencys. It is now around 5000 dollars and is being reported as if it is a new account and just happened this year.

My first question, is there any rules governing how much money can be added to the orriginal debt once it has gone bad?

Secondly, can they keep reporting this debt as a new one just because the debt changed hands to a different collection agency?

Default New Debt
If they obtained a judgment based upon the old debt, then the entry would reflect the new obligation - a judgment debt, which would include the interest, costs and attorney fees awarded as part of the judgment.

If thats the case then wouldn't it be listed as a judgement?

This has been listed on all 3 bureau's and each has the same dollar amount on all 3 but 1 says for medical bills , the other says emerge mastercard, the other said something totally different. Seems to me that are totally unprofessional/ unorganised which leads me to believe that they wouldnt have a judgement. Infact after disputing 1 of them I was able to have it deleted.

So from this i would assume unless they go to court to get a judgment against me, The only entry I should see is the amount owed at the orriginal date it defaulted. Any other entrys i should be able to have deleted. Is this correct?

Default Credit Report
I would need more information to try to figure out what is going on. If the information is incorrect, dispute it.
